I believe that a true Christian can only be a mason if he does not understand the nature of the degrees and if he accepts without question or investigation what the masons assert freemasonry to be and not to be. On the other hand, even a modest understanding of readily available masonic publications reveals a lot of very dark symbols and definitions that should instantly make a Christian's Spirit uneasy.
